LIBERTY COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF CITY OF BOLIVAR WATER AND WATEWATER SYSTEMS

Joplin, Missouri – February 1, 2022 – Liberty announced today that it successfully completed the previously announced acquisition of the City of Bolivar’s water and wastewater systems in Bolivar, Missouri. On April 7, 2020, Bolivar voters approved the agreement between Liberty and the City of Bolivar, and on December 8, 2021, the Missouri Public Service Commission approved an agreement granting Liberty certificates of convenience and necessity and approving the transfer of the systems to Liberty. As part of the acquisition, 13 City of Bolivar employees joined Liberty to continue to support Bolivar water and wastewater customers and provide a smooth transition. Liberty has long served the Bolivar community as its electric utility provider. With this acquisition, Liberty will also provide water and wastewater service to approximately 4,700 customer connections in the Bolivar area.

“We are thrilled to complete this acquisition and to begin serving the Bolivar community as not only its long-time electric provider, but also its water and wastewater provider,” said Mike Beatty, Liberty Central Region Vice President. “Since the acquisition was announced and approved by Bolivar voters, we have worked closely with the City of Bolivar to provide a smooth transition. We appreciate their work and collaboration and look forward to continuing that relationship as a trusted utility partner with the city and its residents. We also want to welcome our new employees to the Liberty family. With their skills and expertise, we will continue to provide quality water to residents while tackling the system’s challenges and investing in needed improvements for compliance and long-term reliability.”

Liberty Bolivar customers can expect to receive information in the mail in the coming days regarding this transition and other important account and billing information. Current Liberty Bolivar electric customers will receive a combined electric, water, and wastewater bill for convenience and ease of payment and can expect to receive their first combined bill from Liberty this March.

Beginning today, customers should contact Liberty at 1-800-206-2300 for customer service and emergencies related to their water and wastewater account. If customers have specific questions regarding their final February City of Bolivar water and wastewater bill, they should call the city at 417-326-CITY (2489).

To assist customers with this transition and to improve service to the Bolivar community, Liberty will open a customer service walk-in center located at 2690 W. Broadway St. in Bolivar on Monday, February 7, 2022. This walk-in center will provide customer service to Liberty’s electric, water, and wastewater customers.
