Plant the right tree in the right place with Liberty's annual tree giveaway
Each year, Liberty partners with the Arbor Day Foundation for an annual tree giveaway. Anyone - whether a Liberty customer or not - can register to receive a free tree.
The available species for 2026 are:
- Eastern Redbud
- Red Maple
- White Dogwood
- Pecan
- Ann Magnolia
Pickup details
Trees can be picked up during the annual May the Forest be With You event.
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11
Where: Wildcat Park, 301 Riviera Drive, Joplin, Missouri
About: The annual Star Wars-themed event is sponsored by the Wildcat Glades Nature Group, Joplin Parks & Recreation, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the Chert Glades chapter of the Missouri Master Naturalists.
The right tree in the right place
The tree species selected are mostly compatible with power lines, and can provide energy efficiency if planted in the right place. With a little research, you can find a place to plant your tree that will help cool your home in the summer and buffer the winter winds.
- Deciduous trees that are planted on the east or west side of the home can provide shade during the summertime and allow sunlight to warm the house during winter.
- Evergreen trees planted on the north side can serve as wind break in winter.
