Due to the extreme temperatures and increased energy demand experienced during February 2021’s Winter Storm Uri, wholesale gas prices increased 10-100 times higher than normal. To help recover deferred costs associated with the storm, the Kansas Corporation Commission has given Liberty approval to implement this Rider. To minimize financial impact to customers, Liberty is extending the recovery of costs over a 13-year period.

$0.00573 per kWh for the first year. After each subsequent year Liberty will true-up costs and the difference will be included as a charge or credit for the following 12 months through the Rider.

For year one, the average residential customer using 1,000 kWh per month will see an increase of $5.73 on their monthly bill.
