Time Choice Rate Plan - Residential - Central - Liberty

Time Choice Rate Plan

Liberty Missouri electric residential and commercial customers with smart meters (AMI meters) will be automatically moved to this plan beginning October 15, 2022. There’s nothing you need to do to participate in this rate plan. The change will happen automatically beginning October 15, 2022. There will be little to no change to your bill amount because of this transition. In fact, depending on the season, you may see slight savings, even with no changes to your energy use habits.

On the Time Choice rate plan, you pay a little more for energy used during peak hours and a little less for energy used during off-peak hours. To save on your bill, shift more energy use to off-peak hours, where you receive a 2-cent credit toward every kWh of energy you use.

Peak Hours

6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Off-Peak Hours

10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

With Time Choice, how much you save is up to you!

With the Time Choice rate plan, you can choose to make no changes to your energy use habits and there will be little to no impact to your bill (a few cents less or more per month depending on the season and the weather). But, if you want to pay less on your energy bill, you can shift some of your energy use to off-peak times and save.

Three ways you can change your energy use habits to save:

Start your washing machine after 10 p.m. and your clothes dryer to complete before 6 a.m. Modern washers use approximately 1000 watts per half hour and dryers use 6000 watts per half hour. Many appliances now have a delayed start option that can be programmed to start at a later time.

Start your dishwasher after 10 p.m. An average dishwasher uses 1800 watts per hour. Many appliances now have a delayed start option that can be programmed to start at a later time.

In the summer, raise your thermostat during the day a degree or two (or more) and in the winter, lower your thermostat a degree or two. You can save about 1 percent for each degree of thermostat adjustment per 8 hours. Consider using a programmable thermostat to make these changes even easier.
