Smart Meter Opt Out - DRAFT

Smart meters are a secure, modern upgrade that help provide more accurate billing and better visibility into your energy use. If you prefer not to use a smart meter, you may choose to opt out and request a non-standard meter that does not use wireless communication. Most customers choose to keep their smart meter due to the added convenience and features.

Your right to opt out

Under Missouri statute effective July 1, 2026, residential customers may request to opt out of using an advanced (smart) meter. If you choose to opt out, a Non-Standard Meter will replace your current smart meter.

Important: If you opt out, you will be responsible for providing meter readings to help ensure accurate billing.
